Dave Smith’s The Winning Mind for Women

Dave and Betsy SmithThe Winning Mind for Women is designed to give each participant the necessary insight into reaching optimal levels of human performance in life and death confrontations and beyond. This course encourages women in law enforcement to reflect on their successes and look toward a bright and rewarding future in the policing profession. Veteran police trainers Dave Smith and Betsy Brantner Smith instruct with the core philosophy “Don’t tell officers what they can’t do; show them what they can do and expect them to do it well.”

We begin by acknowledging that all law enforcement personnel are serving in an ever-changing environment and that we all must be the “leader” regardless of gender, assignment, or rank. Using gender-specific research, proven leadership principals, history, science, and current events as a guide, students will begin to see their own critical role in the success of the agency’s mission, and in their individual success. By looking at the key components of peak performance, Dave and Betsy present an entertaining and  inspiring program designed to help everyone – regardless of their experience – optimize their career and their life.  The team teaching format adds an unforgettable dynamic to the classroom and gives students the edge they need to face and overcome, not only threats on the street, but also the stresses they may confront in their daily lives.  Here are just a few of the topics covered in this ground-breaking seminar:

  • The traits of winners, survivors and leaders.
  • Moving beyond “survival” to winning.
  • The science of crisis decision-making.
  • Understanding and utilizing “Gender Intelligence.”
  • Recognizing why we fail and how we succeed.
  • Understanding humans and “The Risk Thermostat.”
  • Defeating routine and maintaining optimism.
  • Positive Reinforcement vs. Negative Pygmalion.
  • The nature of bureaucracy and systems, and using “The Power of Positive Annoyance.”
  • Courageous leadership regardless of rank, assignment or situation.

Participants will leave this session with renewed optimism, an increased belief in their own skills and abilities, and a better understanding of what it means to truly “WIN” in any situation.
